About the KublaCon Event Search Site
Tools for the power game conventionator!
KublaCon hosts a diverse group of gamers - a diversity that extends to how our fans want to 'engage' their gaming experience leading up to the convention. For most folks, a simple list of events within their favorite type of games is all they need, and they can find this at our main site at kublacon.com
But for those who want to dig deeper, or to enhance their weekend by volunteering as a Host or GM, we've created this site just to address their needs. This site is all about the games and events that make up KublaCon... and less so about how to register, book a room, or get to the hotel.
Here's a quick overview of the tools you'll find, followed by video links to teach you how to use them.
This would be your first step in using this site. If you've not yet created an account, you can do so anytime. Remember that you do not have to be a volunteer to use this site... there are tools here for everyone attending KublaCon. Use the link at the top of this page to create a new account. The page will as for some basic information, the most important of which is your email. Please only make ONE account... as making more than one personal account is against our rules. If you find that you get an alert that says "There's already an account with this email address"... then you probably already have an account! Use the lost password link at the top of the page to recover a lost password/logn.
As you're searching through our event database, you might find events that catch your interest. You can click the checkmark at the right of an event list and then choose "Update Favorites at the bottom of the page. You can then do a search for "My Favorites" and all the events you've marked will be found.
Tell A Friend
As you're browsing through the detaisl of each event, you might want to share an event with a friend. Click the 'Tell a Friend' link and you'll be asked for the email of your friend, and give you a space to add a personal message. Let your friends know about the fun we have planned!
Add, Update, Edit and Duplicate GM events
As a volunteer who wants to run games, you can not only add events that you think our fans will love, you can also 'update' them from year's past, edit them, or duplicate them. If you ran a confirmed game from a previous year, you'll see that it's now listed as a "Prior Year Event." You'll see options in list view to "Update to Proposal"... which will quickly take all the details from a prior year event you've run, and turn it into an Event Proposal.
Likewise, you can take a Proposed Event, and 'duplicate' it. This is helpful if you have an event you want to run more than once over the weekend. The duplicate option will allow you to change the time/day of the duplicated Event Proposal.
And finally, the 'Edit' option of a proposed event will allow you to change some of the descriptive details of an event... though it won't allow you to change the date and time of your proposed event.
We highly recommend using our Event Submission worksheet when preparing to add events to GM. It's a PDF worksheet/form that lets you fill in all the information that will be required for submitting a new event.
Search and request Host Tasks
Using the 'Host Tasks > Task Search/Signup' link, you can browse available volunteer tasks. You can search by day, duration and type of task to find volunteer opportunities that will fit your schedule and the type of volunteering you prefer. Once you've found those, click the 'request' checkbox to the right of the task and choose "Update Volunteer Requests" at the bottom of the page. The tasks you've updated now show as 'requested' tasks. Our Volunteer Coordinator will update requested tasks to "Confirmed tasks" leading up to the convention. You can also search by both requested and confirmed tasks to view a quick status of your volunteering hours.
To help you get the most out of this site, we've created a series of videos that cover all of the above features and more. Each one runs from 3-5 minutes and - we hope - will provide insights for both beginners and veterans of our site. Check 'em out.
